This
report covers disturbances and reclamation activities at the Marr Strip from
October 1, 1984 through September 30, 1985.
Due to the poor coal market, production, and, therefore, disturbance was
minimal. Limited areas of the mine were backfilled, graded, topsoiled and/or
revegetated during the reporting period.
2.5 acres of topsoil were removed near the north end of Pit No. 1. This
material is stored at topsoil stockpile No. 1.
52.1 acres of the old "720" Pit remain open for future backfilling, no new
disturbance at the "720" Pit is expected to occur. A 19.1 acre area at the
north end of the "720" Pit is currently being backfilled with overburden from
Pit No. 1. Also, at the north edge of the "720" Pit, 4.3 acres have been
graded. This area may be topsoiled and seeded in the fall of 1986. A 6.0
acre section of the "720", north of the backfilled 4.3 acres, was topsoiled
and stubble mulched in the fall of 1984. Perennial seeding is scheduled for
1986.
Schedule or predicted 1986 activities:
A. Mining of 2.5 acre area in Pit No. 1 which has had topsoil salvaged -
by summer, 1986;
B. Perennial seeding of about 6.0 acres at the north end of the "720" Pit;
C. Continued backfilling of 19.1 acre area, northern "720" Pit; and,
D. Topsoil and reseed 4.3 acre tract along the north edge of "720" Pit.
- Refer to 1985 Reclamation Map for locations of planned activities.
/ph
7819E
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel.
