No mining will occur beneath the s[reambeds of West Roatcap and Terror Creeks and no significant hydrologic features will be undermined during the first five-year permit term. Studies on subsidence and the affects on envi- ronmental resources will continue dur- ing this term to substantiate evalua- tions made in the subsidence study (see [he Subsidence Study in Volume 3). Protective pillars (buffer zones) will be left beneath East Roatcap Creek and Steven's finch where [he overburden is 600' or less to prevent damage to the streambeds and the depletion of flows. Development (room and pillar) mining with no pillar extraction will occur under the renewable resource lands (al- luvial/ colluvial deposits) within the Steven's Gulch and Fast Roatcap Creek drainages where the overburden is 600 [0 800 ft. (see Maps 2-9 and 9-1). Spring flows within the permit area are an insignificant portion of total flows. Significant stockponds and springs have been identified (see Map 4-3) and monitoring and repair plans prepared for these resources (see [he Subsidence Repair Handbook in Volume 3). Water replacement plans have also been prepared should the resources be affected. in summary, although limited areas of riparian habitat exist, the areas are not considered to be of unusually high value.
