Savage and Savage
Memorandum
To: Donald W. MacDonald, Coors Energy Company
From: Michael Savage, Savage and Savage, Inc.
Date: June 24, 2005
Subject: Second Quarter 2005 Pest and Disease Inspection; Keenesburg Mine
File #: C-81-028
On June 23, 2005 I conducted an inspection of the reclaimed and revegetated azeas at the
Keenesburg Mine for evidence of plant pests or diseases that could affect the re-
established vegetation at the Keenesburg Mine.
The mine site has received relatively normal amounts of precipitation this year, much
occurring during the last days of May and eazly June. As a result of the spring moisture,
cheatgrass has appeared in many areas. To remove thatch buildup and control the
cheatgrass from setting seed in the revegetated areas, several azeas were burned. The
areas that were control burned included Area 2, the west side of Area 11, portions of
. Areas 17 and 18, portions of Areas 21 and 22, and the northeast side of topsand pile A-3.
Revegetated azeas were inspected by pedestrian and vehiculaz means including azeas 1-
11, 14-19, 21, 23, and 24-28. The sediment pond, dugout, small cottonwood grove,
overburden and topsand stockpiles, and the active reclamation B Pit area were also
inspected for any potential weedy invasive species.
I did not identify any disease conditions at any of the reclaimed and revegetated azeas or
within the mine site. Nor did I identify any plant pests which had affected the growth of
the vegetation during the past growing season. No areas which experienced any
infestation or blight were found during the inspection.
C: Keenesburg Pest and Disease Inspection File
Danny Kipp, Keenesburg Mine

Page 50
