short record of sampling precludes any observation or speculation regazding long-term trends
at this time.
4.5.5.2002 Reclamation Areas
Quantitative sampling was conducted in the 2002 reclamation azeas for the first time this
season. The small number and short duration of sampling precludes any observation or
speculation regarding long-term trends at this time.
5.0 SUMMARY
Quantitative monitoring of the 1998 reseeded or interseeded areas, the 1999, 2000, and 2002
reclamation areas, and the Osgood sand reference azea in 2005 revealed that the 1998 azeas
met the requirements for final revegetation success criterion for total vegetation cover while
the 1999, 2000, and 2002 reclamation azeas did not.
With regard to total herbaceous production, the 1999 and 2002 azeas met the final
revegetation success standazd for herbaceous production. The 2000 reclamation areas and the
1948 areas did not meet the final revegetation success criterion for herbaceous production.
Of the revegetated areas sampled in 2005, none of the azeas sampled could meet the species
composition revegetation success criterion (including the Osgood sand reference azea).
Though the reclamation azeas did not meet the cover or species composition success criteria,
• it was concluded that the 1998 and 1999 areas have established a diverse, effective, and
permanent vegetation cover of the same seasonal variety native to the azea and aze capable of
self-regeneration and plant succession in accordance with the requirements of the Colorado
Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act. The 2000 and 2002 reclamation areas have been
sampled for three years and one yeaz respectively and do not show any long-term trends.
6.0 PEST AND DISEASE INSPECTIONS
Four quarterly inspections were conducted at the Keenesburg Mine to evaluate the presence
or potential for pest or disease infestations or outbreaks. The inspections were conducted on
Mazch 17, June 23, August 8-16, and December 5, 2005. Inspection reports from those
inspections aze located in the appendix.
During those inspections no disease conditions at any of the reclaimed and revegetated azeas
were identified. No plant pests were found which were affecting the growth of the
vegetation. No baze areas, or azeas which appeared to be affected by infestation or blight
were found during the inspections.

Coors Energy Company Keenesburg Mine Page 27
2005 Revegetation Monitoring Report
