at 150-200 g/mz (1337-1783 lb/ac). There was no evidence of invasion by unwanted species
or evidence of pest or disease problems.
• 3.2.2 1986 RECLAMATION AREAS
The 1986 reclamation areas encompass approximately 47 acres of reclaimed pit in the central
area of the Keenesburg Mine permit area. The 1986 reclamation area is composed of three
pazcels (Areas 4, 12, and 20) separated by north-south haul road corridors (Areas 3 and 19).
The area is .nearly flat with a gentle slope (<1 °) to the north and east. Reclamation and
coincident revegetation within this azea took place in 1986. Replaced soils were sandy in
texture.
Cool season graminoids dominated the 1986 reclamation areas this season. Widely scattered
individuals of Yucca glauca (yucca) were encountered. Area 4 has two distinct vegetation
types. The topographically elevated azea at the north end of the pazcel is dominated by
Calamovilfa longifolia, Andropogon hallii and Schizachyrium scoparium (little bluestem). In
the lower area, at the south end of this pazcel, Bromus marginatus dominates, with
contributions by the warm season grasses Panicum virgatum, Schizachyrium scoparium, and
Andropogon hallii. Very few weedy species were observed. Total vegetation covet was
estimated at 50-55 percent. Total herbaceous production was estimated at 150 g/m2 (1337
lb/ac). No evidence of pests or diseases was identified in any of the 1986 reclamation azea
pazcels.
3.2.3 1987 RECLAMATION AREAS
The 1987 reclamation azeas encompass approximately 48 acres of reclaimed pit and adjacent
azeas in the south central area of the Keenesburg Mine permit area. The 1987 reclamation
azea is composed of two pazcels (Areas 11 and 17) separated by a north-south haul road
corridor and two narrow reclamation pazcels (Areas 9, 10, and 16). The entire 1987
reclamation azea is nearly flat with a gentle slope (<I °) to the south and east. Reclamation
and subsequent revegetation within this area took place in 1987. Replaced soils were
generally sandy in texture. Area 9 was mowed in the autumn of 2004 to reduce standing
litter.
The 1987 reclamation azeas were visually dominated by cool season wheatgrasses, and
Calamovilfa longifolia. An azea immediately adjacent to the undisturbed range on the south
is significantly drier and contains Yucca glauca and Artemisia filifolia. Vegetation cover was
estimated at 60-65 percent. Overall herbaceous production in this azea was estimated to be
200 g/mZ (1783 Ib/ac). No evidence of pests or diseases was identified in this area.
3.2.4 1995 RECLAMATION AREAS
The 1995 reclamation azeas encompass a total of approximately 36 acres of reclamation in
six distinct azeas within the Keenesburg Mine permit azea. The areas aze found throughout
the disturbance azea of the mine and include; Area 1 (the former tipple area north of the shop
building), Area 8 comprising the east third of A pit, Area 24 (a road corridor from the
northwest corner of the long term spoil storage area to the northwest boundary of the permit
Coors Energy Company Keenesburg Mine Page 18
2005 Revegetation Monitoring Report
