The
mine distwbed areas were swveyed during the quarterly inspection of May ] 4, 1997. Due to heary
snow accumulation at the site and rapid melting conditions in the spring of 1996, erosional areas
were created on the inslopes of Ponds 1 and 2. Minor hand repairs were made during the week of
May 13, 1996 while the gully located on the inslope of pond 1 was repaired during the week of July
8, 1996. Revegetation success on the gully was limited and minor erosion occurred again during the
spring snowmelt of 1997. This gully was repaired again during the May 14, 1997 visit. Repair
consisted of raking out erosional areas, seeding, and covering the disturbance with straw matting.
This technique was also used on two smaller areas that had developed on the south inslope to Pond
1. The standard seed mix listed in the permit was used on all areas. All repair areas are shown on
the attached map. No other rills or gullies of significance were observed on the remainder of
reclaimed area.
Should you have questions or if you need additional information concerning this survey, please do
not hesitate to let me know.
Sincerely,
~~ ~~
Jt erry H.
