M-2004-009-AM-1
REPORT YEAR:
AUG. 4 2005 THRU AUG. 4 2006
This DMG Regular 112 Permit (No. M-2004-009-AM-1) was approved by the Division
for operations on August 4, 2004 and the later amendment to this permit was approved on
June 21, 2006, expanding the area to be mined by approximately 75 acres. Mining and
production of sand and gravel began on the site in September 2004.
During the report yeaz, approximately 18.0 acres were mined. Approximately 7.6 acres
_ were backfilled, constituting reclamation for the yeaz..Of_that 7.6.acres backfilled, 3.4
acres consisted of backfilling only, without mining, on the west side of the old mined-out
pond adjacent to Boulder Cr.
Tamarisk control was also practiced during the reporting year with approximately 1.5
acres of shrubs cut to the ground with the stumps treated with Garlon 4. This was
accomplished in November 2005 mostly azound the northern and western edges of the
old, dried up 30-acre pond. The shrubs averaged 6 ft. in height with many much taller.
An inspection of the treated azeas in the summer of 2006 showed about a 98% success
rate with little return of the Tamazisk.
During the next reporting yeaz, approximately 18 acres will be mined to the south of the
current mined area, finishing Cell 1 and then into Cell 2, south of the high-pressure gas
lines. Reclamation will consist of backfill in the remainder of Cell 1 and again, along the
east side of Boulder Cr.
A map is attached to this report showing the areas and acreages described above.
