Lamm
Governor
T0: Randy Price
FROM: Jim Pendleton
RE: Colorado West
MEMORANDUM
18 une 1986
~~
Ines "1985 ANNUAL HYDROLOGY & SUBSIDENCE REPORT
(Permit No: C-83-038)
I have completed a review of the subsidence aspects of the above referenced
report, submitted by CWI on February 24, 1986, pursuant to your request. The
report complies with the requirements for subsidence monitoring contained
within their approved permit, as amended. The report presents the subsidence
monitoring survey data and visual monitoring results col]ected to date. The
report also contains a discussion of the 1985 observed subsidence, as well as
subsidence impacts projected to occur in 1986. The data is clearly presented
and the discussions are concise and informative. The applicant projects the
collection of data which will accommodate the completion of angle of draw and
maximum vertical subsidence determinations during 1986. Unfortunately, the
recent fire and closure of the Orchard Valley Mine may indefinitely delay the
completion of these calculations, necessary to verify the projection included
within the approved permit application.
The "1985 ANNUAL HYDROLOGY & SUBSIDENCE REPORT", submitted on February 24,
1986 by Colorado Westmoreland, Inc. is acceptable as submitted.
Doc.
