DENVER WATER
1600 West 12th Avenue • Denver, Colorado 802043412
Phone 303ir28L460 • Faz No. 303628fi478
January 25, 2007
Mr. Anthony Waldron
Division of Reclamation
Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Rm 215
Denver, CO 80203
RE: MLRB Permit Number M-1979-195 (Road Runners Rest)
Dear Mr. Waldron:
The anniversary date for the referenced permit is January 28, 2007. By letter dated
December 1, 2006, Denver Water and South Adams notified the Division of the
acquisition of the property from Suburban Sand and Gravel. A completed transfer of
Reclamation Permit and Succession of Operator form was provided with the December 1
letter. The Division's Notice that the annual report and fee were due in January was sent
to Suburban Sand and Gravel. This letter is in response to the Division's December 1,
2006 Notice.
Denver Water and South Adams constructed a slurry wall around the Hazeltine and Road
Runners pits which was completed in February of 2004. Suburban completed its mining
activity in the Road Runners Pit in January 2005. The berm between the Hazeltine and
Road Runners pits has been partially removed. The plan is to remove the remaining
material in the berm so that the entire area will be available for storage.
On January 10, 2007 the Board of Water Commissioners authorized an agreement with
Warren Cruise and Associates for removal of additional materials from the Roadrunners
and Hazeltine pits. That program could take up to two years to complete. As the
remaining material is sorted and removed from the pits, Denver Water will begin working
to reclaim the side slopes in the area where the slurry wall has been constructed. An
aerial photo showing the Road Runners and Hazeltine Pits as well as the location of the
slurry wall is enclosed for your information.
Denver Water has previously submitted a warrant in the amount of $688.00 to cover the
annual fee. We have confirmed with Ms. Ramirez that the warrant was received by your
office.
The contact information on the annual form has been changed to indicate the transfer of
ownership.
CONSERVE
Patricia L. Wells, General Counsel, Legal Division
