This quantity is based on the combined total of water pumped
within the mine and measured at inflow and seep locations. Mine inflow and seep locations
identified during the reporting period are shown on accompanying Map 1. The locations
shown for this reporting period are typically the same as those shown in previous reporting
periods. Less area of the mine is becoming accessible for monitoring inflows since mining is
primarily in the retreat process. Because of this, the measured inflows represent a
progressively smaller percentage of the actual total inflows.
Mine inflow and seep monitoring data are presented on Table 1, with each location keyed ro
Map 1. Inflow and seep locations were monitored during the spring and fall during the
reporting period.
Review of Table 1, Mine Inflow Data Summary, indicates that mine inflow quality is
consistent with inflow data presented in previous reporting periods. The estimated quantity for
each monitoring location in the mine, shown on Table 1, are comparable ro previous
reporting periods.
Water handling systems in the mine capture most of the inflow at their source. Within the
mine, water from each inflow and seep area is pumped ro a sump at 32 crosscut. This water
is automatically pumped over the adjacent ramp and into the edge of the pillared area of the
Weat Mains where it is gradually filling the west area of the mine. Water discharged from the
32 crosscut sump totalled 3g.9 ac-ft for the reporting period. Inflow to the 1 North/ 2 North
is pumped to the 32 crosscut sump ro the extent of keeping active mining areas free of water.
When inflow to this area is not interfering with mining, such as the second half of this
reporting period, it is filling abandoned portions of the 1 North/ 2 North area.
Water Balance Water Use. and Consumptive Use
Water consumptively used by the Southfield Mice during the reporting period is estimated at
50.3 ac-ft as shown on Table 2. Consumptive uses shown on Table 2 include pumping from
the Corley Well, domestic use, and pond evaporation.
