Additional Page
2007 Annual Report
Winkler Light Aggregate Quarry
M-1989-065
Centennial Materials, Inc.
Anniversary Date: April 26
Overview of Permit Year: During the 2006/2007 operating year the operation expanded to the south and the
amount of land in reclamation increased slightly less than the mining area increased. Most of the operation
remains much as it was last year. The differences in acreage fox the total affected land increased about 3 acres.
Annual Report Maps: Enclosed axe three color maps showing the primary areas of disturbance and the type
of disturbance occurring in each area. Map 1 shows the entire site and is primarily a guide map. Maps 2 includes
the Main Quarry poxdon and Map 3 shows the information for the Cut Stone Quarry area. Fox details of
acreages please see the maps.
Affected Lands: The amount of affected land in the operation technically showed an increase of about 3 acres.
All of this increase is contained in the slight expansion southward of the Main Quarry less the amount of new
land placed in final reclamation. Otherwise, the boundary of the disturbed area did not change from last year. A
new area of reclamation has been completed with backfilling and is being topsoiled and prepared fox seeding in
May of this year. This will increase the amount of land in full reclamation and will nearly balance the expansion
with the reclamation. The Cut Stone Quarry area showed no changes.
Revegetation: Past xevegetation efforts benefitted greatly from the increased moisture in late 2006 when thick
snow covered the land for most of the winter. Past weed control efforts have been very effective with only
minor amounts of weed growth present in isolated locations where previously the weed density was high.
Expected Activity (2007/2007): The Cut Stone Quarry will probably change very little. The main quarry may
expand a few more acres to the south. The 2 acres on the north end of Phase 1 will not be mined so Phase 1 is
completed with mining and has become a blend of plant facilities and reclamation areas. Future mining will
probably occur only in Phase 2. Additional backfilling in Phase 1 will occur as overburden becomes available.
Bonding: This operation is covered by a self bond.
M-1989-065 Winkler Light Aggregate Quarry
Schmidt Construction Company 2007 Annual Report Page 1 of 1
