This report contains a straight forward rendition of the
survey data for Mountain Coal Company's numerous subsidence monitoring
points. The annual report is intended to contain an in depth discussion of the
observed movement, which MCC has satisfied by the submittal of a field
investigation report prepared by C. Richard Dunrud, P.E. with Wright Water
Engineers, Inc.
Mr. Dunrud's field investigation memorandum is a new inclusion in the annual
report by MCC. It provides a comprehensive discussion of observed
subsidence artifacts at approximately a dozen locations above longwall
panels 8 and 9 on Jumbo Mountain. This qualitative discussion of Mr. Dunrud's
observations will allow comparison of subsequent observations by Mr. Dunrud
and others at these same locations. I encourage MCC to continue the
inclusion of similar observation memoranda in future annual reports.
The maximum reported vertical subsidence (8.25 feet) continues to be less
than the predicted magnitude (10.22 feet) contained within MCC's amended
