We purchased this property in
1989 and are developing it into a 5 Star RV Itesort'in one of the
most scenic parts.of Colorado. _
This is a memaership'RV ~esox'£ in vhch taxis project would
definitely hinder our sales. -
we have 1100'memDers of our oan plus the affiliation with
Coast to Coast Camping who has 500 Resort and 35G,000 members.
The last three years we have hosted 50,000 RV'ers who come
here for the beauty, clean air, quite and healthy atmosphere.
Also, they spend a great deal of money in our community.
the United Companies project will take a scenic pasture and
turn it into a 35 acre 30 foot deep pit which will be there
forever.
They claim When they are finished with the.ptoject in ten_,
years they will reseed it. The '_armers in the area claim nothing
will grow after the hole is dug do to the water table being
altered. If they take all the rock they claim they can mire.
which is a million and a quarter yards. They would put. 125,000
trucks on a already over loaded single lane Hwy US 550 which in
the summer has 9,000 vehicles a day.
Tf that's no i.enough, :hey want to put in a cement batch
plant and 'an asphalt plant. These will cause a great deal of
dust, pollution-and odor.
' -Please let'us•~lceep'Colorado beautiful and clean.
' DON"i' YEnMIT T?iIS,_:0 HAP'cEN:-~
22045 South U.S. Hwy. 550
cereiy~~~j
... ~)'~~166.Ci
Dave Pekus
Montrose, CO 81401 (303) 249-6362
TOTRL P. 07
