The followiny informativn is presented in response to a letter from
Fred Samson, Utah International, Inc. dated 4/19/81, and in fulfillment of
the contract for additional archeological work to be performed at Trapper
f~iine dated 6/22/31.
On 7/1-2/81, John Greer and Mavis Loscheider revisited the survey
area to examine four previously recorded sites, record one additional site
-found outside the oriyinal survey area, and consult with Wayne Sowards and
• Bruce Humfrhries of Utah International vn questions they had cry the original
report. Information gathered at that time is presented in items 3-8 of
this letter and in the attached revised report pages, revised site form
pages, and revised maps.
The information in items 1 and 2 are in response to Fred Samson's
letter.
1. National Register eligibility of recorded sites:
A. The following sites appear to be eligible for the National
Register of Historic Places because of their potential to
cvntribute addition a_1 scientific information (36CFR60.6).
5MF948: This pictograph and petroglyph site has the potential
to contribute information on the lifeways of the people
who occupied the area. There is also a potential for
buried materials at the base of the panel which may
aid in interpreting and possibly dating the occupation,
This type of site is relatively rare and is of recrea-
tional value.
5MF949: The site has a good potential for buried cultural
materials which may provide information on the
subsistence and lifeways of the people who occupied
it. The pictographs present at the site may also be
