mapped at the site (Section.28, T8S, R894!) is between 10 and 15 acres
,• in area.
Bowie Member Coal Beds
A Seam. The A seam is either on or a few feet above the Rollins
sandstone. It is best developed in the mine area between North and
Middle Thompson creeks, where it ranges from 7 to 10 feet thick.
Southward from Middle Thompson Creek, in Sections 10 and 11, the A
seam thins and intertongues with other sediments, becoming dirty,
eventually consisting only of strands of coal (Drawing D-3-11).
~ B Seam. In the vicinity of North Thompson Creek, the B seam is 30
to 40 feet above the A seam. Down-dip from the mine, drill holes CR-1
and -2 encountered 4 to 5 feet of B seam coal, but holes CR-10 and -11
penetrated less than 3 feet (refer to Drawing D-3-11 or D-3-12 for
location of drill holes).
• C Seam. The C seam is 25 to 50 feet above the B seam and reaches
its greatest thickness of 2.5 feet in the vicinity of drill hole LM-1.
It is generally less than 2 feet thick throughout the area.
Paonia Member Coal Seams
Sunshine Seam. The Sunshine seam is in the lower 30 feet of the
Paonia member. In the vicinity of the North Thompson Creek mine, the
Sunshine seam is 2 feet thick, but thickens southward where it is 6
feet thick in drill holes CR-4 and LM-3.
Anderson Seam. The Anderson seam is 9 to 10 feet thick in the
Number 3 mine along North Thompson Creek, At this locality it is 60
feet above the Sunshine seam, To the south, the seam is split by

3-23
