EXHIBIT A: Legal Description
The Cash mine and the affected land surface are located in the
Gold Hill mining district, Boulder County, Colorado. The Cash
„ mine is situated in the northwest quarter of the southeast
quarter of Section 12, Township 1 North, Range 72 West (see
Maps A & D). The Cash mine claim group includes the following
lode claims: Cash Lode claim no. 62, Freiburg Lode claim no.
218, Bella Lode claim no. 560, and the Cash Mine Dump unpat-
ented lode claim. A total of 2.261 acres of surface land will
be affected by the Cash mine operation.
EXHIBIT B: Mining Plan
This mine has been one of the most productive mines in the
Gold Hill mining district. Following its discovery in the
1870's, the Cash mine was in operation until 1919. Most of
the large mine dump on the property dates from this earliest
period of mining activity. Except for some surface work on
the mine dump in the 1930's, the mine remained inactive
through 1945. The mine was active again in the years between
1946 and 1953, when the production amounted to many thousands
of tons of ore. In 1958, the Cash mine was reopened and
underground exploration and development work was conducted
-- until 1964. The last activity at the mine was a small surface
operation that took place between 1967 and 1971. Current
plans are centered on mining the ore reserves developed during
'- the 1958-1964 period, and reworking the mine dump established
during the previous mining endeavors.
The Cash mine is located midway between Summerville and Gold
Hill, southeast of the main road from Boulder to Gold Hill and
below Horsfal Flat (see Map B). The altitude of the mine is
between 8,075 and 8,200 feet with the town of Gold Hill at
8,290 feet and Summerville at 7,400 feet elevation. The prop-
erty is accessible by a private road which traverses the
patented claims in the area east of Cash Gulch between County
Road No. 52 and County Road No. 89.
The Cash vein has an average strike of N56°E and dips from 54°
to 80° to the northwest. It can be traced on the surface for
approximately three-quarters of a mile, with surface exposures
ranging from one to three feet in width. The vein intersects
the Hoosier reef at the foot of the Bellevue mine dump approx-
imately 650 feet southwest of the Cash mine shaft. The
Freiburg vein joins the Cash vein 50 feet east of the shaft
and strikes N35°E with a nearly vertical dip. Both the Cash
and Freiburg veins are gold-silver telluride veins. Sylvanite
is the predominant ore mineral in the western part of the Cash
vein, and a mixture of sylvanite, petzite, and native gold
makes up the ore minerals in~ the eastern portion of the Cash
vein and in the Freiburg vei This telluride mineralization
occurs with pyrite and a little galena and sphalerite in a
• gangue of horn quartz. \~~ ~~)Tz 1(,~~,rlulzi~
T ~
The Cash mine shaft follows the vein for an inclined distance
of 761 feet with nine levels driven at irregular intervals.
The Freiburg vein is accessible from the Cash workings on the
first, second, third, and seventh levels.
With the rehabilitation of the Cash mine shaft to the third
level, mining can commence on two excellent ore shoots con-
taining some of the richest ore known to exist in the mine.
These ore shoots were opened on the first, second, and third
levels and can best be mined from the present shaft utilizing
the 125 foot level adit as an escapeway.
The following tasks are necessary to place the Cash mine in
operation from the third level:
1. Surface Rehabilitation
A. Repair and relocate roads
_ B. Power installation
C. Repair existing buildings and construct a
