Box 1523 <br />Longmont, CO 80501 <br />Re: Cash Mine Claim group, Northwest ~ Southeast ~ Section 12, Township 1 <br />- North, Range 72 West; Required Boulder County Permits for a proposed <br />underground reactivation and historic surface tailings operation <br />Dear Mr. Steen, <br />Boulder County Zoning Division is in receipt of your proposal to rework the <br />above claim group by re-entering the Cash Mine and dump sorting existing <br />tailings. Section 6.1(4) of the Boulder County Zoning Resolution recognizes <br />subsurface mining in the Forestry (F) zoning district of Boulder County as a <br />use by right provided offensive odors, noise, fluids, and duets are confined <br />to the premises. Chapter 70 of the Uniform Building Code exempts such mining <br />and processing from the grading and excavation permit process and the Boulder <br />County Zoning Resolution Section 20.48, exempts the estimated total tonnages <br />and total land surface disturbed from a Boulder County Special Use review <br />permit process. As a use by right in the Forestry zoning district the Land <br />Use Department can administratively issue a use permit to begin review such <br />routine matters as legal and physical access, sanitation, noise attenuation, <br />dust suppressants, protections of waters of the state, on/off-site solid <br />waste disposal (including dump wastes), and structural inspections for new <br />buildings or existing structures with those changing use. <br />Please complete all applicable information requested in the memorandum to <br />expedite the processing of your use permit including an access sketch or the <br />enclosed parcel map.
