Brooks, <br />(1983), discussed the hydrology and subsidence potential of both the Paonia "D" <br />Tract and the Orchard Valley Mine permit area. Valuable information was also <br />presented in the Uintah- Southwestern Utah Coal Region Final Environmental Impact <br />Statement, (U.S., D.O.I., 1983). Colorado Westmoreland Inc. performed a site <br />specific investigation of the Paonia "D" Tract and the Orchard Valley Mine permit <br />area during 1983. Numerous meetings between Colorado Westmoreland Inc., the <br />Bureau of Land Management, and local water users culminated in the resolution of <br />issues intimately related to eventual approval of underground mining and reclama- <br />tion permits for the Paonia "D" Tract. <br />ated to thts report. <br />Physiographic, climatic, and geohydrological descriptions of the Orchard Palley <br />Mine nave been presented previously by nunerous authors and will not be reiter- <br />-1- <br />
