• Introduction <br />To comply with the regulations set forth by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) <br />concerning the Windy Gap Process, Bowie Resources Limited (BRL) provides the followiing <br />updated streamflow depletion analysis of the Upper Colorado River Basin (UCRB) for water <br />usage at the Bowie No. 1 Mine. <br />The following water depletion estimate is prepazed for the changes proposed by technical revision <br />No. 32 and is now revised for Technical Revision No. 35. This permit action adjusts streamflow <br />depletion for water usage at the Bowie No. 1 Mine by removing all previously calculated usages <br />except sediment pond evaporation. <br />Road Dust Suppression <br />The mine is currently in reclamation. Coal haulage and traffic has been reduced to a minimum <br />level. The level of water usage is less than 25% of the previous usage during active operations. <br />The previous usage of 8.9 Acre-Feet per yeaz is therefore reduced to 25 % of the previous <br />consumption or 2.2 Acre-Feet per yeaz. <br />Sediment Pond Evanoration <br />• Eight sediment ponds exist on the mine property. Potential depletions can occur from these <br />ponds as a result of evaporation although the majority of the ponds aze typically dry for most of <br />the year. The total surface area of the ponds as measured at the pond de-watering level is 40,500 <br />feet or 0.93 acres. Using an evaporative loss of 34 inches per year equates to a total loss of 2.6 <br />acre feet per yeaz. <br />Continuous Miners (CMl <br />The mine portals aze sealed and therefore no water usage for underground categories aze included <br />in this calculation. <br />Underround Roadways <br />The mine portals aze sealed and therefore no water usage for underground categories are included <br />in this calculation. <br />Conveyor Sprays <br />The mine portals are sealed and all surface conveyors aze either reclaimed or in the process of <br />reclamation, therefore no water usage for underground or surface conveyors aze included in this <br />calculation. <br />1 <br />MR-1D8 <br />/'1PPRovE~ <br />6 ~ z9~o y <br />
