EXFIIBIT "I"
SOILS INFORMATION
The following is an excerpt from the SCS report on this site:
"The soil present on this gravel pit site is mapping unit 69. The
soil is called the Homelake Loam. It is always found in a floodplain
and in this case the floodplain of the Yampa River. The soil is
• poorly drained as a result. A water table is present at a depth of
25 inches. The pH ranges from 6.6 to 7.8. The soil depth is variable
but useable. Topsoil can range as high as 60 inches. The soil normally
has 10 inches of topsoil that is a deep grayish brown loam. Below
10 inches you get into s[ratified loam and sandy loam that can be 50
inches thick. The erosion hazard is low from both wind and water."
The operator's experience in this area indicates sand and gravel in a
15 to 20 foot seam. Present use is a hay meadow. Prognosis for
"establishment and maintenance of plant growth" is excellent.
1
r J
i
.,,
