' EXHIBIT "B"
LUMSDEN CANYON GRAVEL PIT lit
' MINING PLAN
The Lumsden Canyon Gravel Pit has been extensively mined to date. The
existing mining operation has been concerned with sand and gravel extraction
for production of road base construction materials. Strip mining methods will
continue to be employed for this purpose.
iarth moving, excavation and sorting are accomplished with front-end
Ioaa=_rs, dozers, dump trucks, crusher and screening plant. Newly excavated
' marerial will be crushed and sized according to specifications onsite. Pro-
cessed material has been and will continue to be stockpiled on the effected
land and used as the demand requires.
' ' At present a sizable stockpile containing approximately 3,775 yd3 of road
base material has been produced. The existing stockpiles are covered by a
erour:it of annual weecs and grasses.
' Pit slopes will be shaped and graded as mining operations progress.
Little topsoil or overburden exists on this site. The gravel deposits appear
to bs on the surface of the site. The top 4" of material has been stockpiled
for reclamation purposes. The depth of the sand and gravel deposits are
discussed in the geological report Exhibit B-2.
^ The wined site presently has several juniper/cedar trees, and a ground
' cover of 20A range grasses. Any amount of existing vegetation or debris that
has to be removed will be buried in the pit bank side slopes as they are
brought into conformity with the reclamation effort. All areas will be seeded
' back to range land as out=lined in the reclamation plan Exhibit E.
' The pit will be operated an an "as needed basis" when demand for road
base material is needed. Alien the necessary mining operations are completed
all of the mining equipment will Se removed except for one front-end loader.
1
