• The scope of work involved in this study includes the following:
1. Collection of available data concerning general geology and
stratigraphy, any specific test borings within the permit
area, or nearby (to include lithologic logs, electric logs,
etc.), all formation parameters available from others
(unconfined compressive strength, Brazilian tensile strength,
modulus of rupture, Young's modulus, Poisson's ratio, etc.),
topographic information, air photos, monitoring data, and all
other miscellaneous data available from others pertinent to
the studies on-site.
2. Collection of site-specific data insofar as possible from
rockcore available from two test borings located within
permit boundaries.
3. Analysis of subsidence to include the following:
a. Preparation of models and examination of all pertinent
mechanisms;
b. Identification of critical "tension zones" (and their
ultimate impact on stability);
c. Estimation of the maximum displacements at the surface
and the final subsidence surface profiles including an
evaluation of their effects on grading and drainage,
changes in strength characteristics of subsurface
materials, and their ultimate impact on stability.
•
4
