Mr. John T. Ungefug - 3 - March 11, 1986
Exhibit E -Reclamation Plan
Please specify your topsoil replacement depth precisely. As I
3. I have reviewed your proposed seeding mixture of six species. I will
need to specifically recommend that the Board approve this mixture as a
i\ / part of the permit. You mention that the mixture might be varied.
/J~\ Please be advised that any variation to this seed mix should not be
substituted unless and until the Board approves a technical revision to
the permit which formally changes the revegetation mixture.
understand it, the pit areas to be revegetated are to have 6" replaced
and the plant area 4" replaced. The pit area seems to have enough
topsoil to accomplish a 6" replacement depth in that area.
2. Your stated plan for sloping of the excavated area of 2H:1V from the pit
floor to 5' below the expected water line and 3H:1V above that is
~' acceptable if the area is inundated. For areas that will be mined to a
point above ground water and reclaimed dry, I presume your overall slope
will be 3H:1V. Please clarify this matter.
4. Please specify the different seed mixtures to be planted along the haul
road and in the plant area (as per the property owner's wishes) or
/x commit to submitting the mixtures to us for staff approval before they
are to be planted.
5. Please more precisely delineate a plan (either on a map or in text form,
or both) that gives the location of the 10 acres of lake area. It
should be specified as an area that is mined deeper and shown as
distinct from the other excavated depressions. If it becomes possible
to enlarge this lake area at a later time, the permit can be amended or
revised. For the present, however, a more exact final reclamation
configuration must be given.
6. I note that part of what appears to be a ditch (dash-dot line) is
obliterated in final reclamation, while the rest of the ditch still
exists. Please give a detailed discussion of how the ditch is to be
reclaimed and justify the destruction of any part thereof, (See
question 1 under Exhibit C, above.)
Exhibit F - Reclamation Plan Map
1. In general, this pit area map is too conceptual in nature. A plan for
the location of ten acres of lake as well as the other dry pits should
.~%~ / be given. Realistic contour lines should be given to illustrate the
~X\ depths of all of these excavated, reclaimed depressions. Once again, if
plans change later, the map can be changed using an amendment or a
revision.
J 2, Your map Exhibit F-2 does not seem to be a reclamation plan for the
\X, plant area, at all. Please submit a topographic map of this area as it
would be, if reclaimed by topsoiling and seeding.
Exhibit G - Water Information
1. Please reference my questions above concerning discharges during mining
~< and concerning the precise location of lake areas.
