information was solicited from the following sources:
1. Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) - ga:~ a-u.:,al and raptor distri-
bution, big game critical areas and population trends, threatened
and endangerefi species sightings, importance of project area to
sport ht;nt ing, etc.
2. Peaiody Coal Congx~ny -wildlife data suYretitted iaz support of mine
pertuts near the study area.
3. Coioraao State University (CSU), tniversity of Wy¢mvig (UW); Depart-
ments of Zoolog}• and Wildlife management -wildlife information for
the area gathezc>d 11'1 .support of theses, dissex~ations or other
~U.tiversity research.
4. In-house library - a considerable volwme of born published and
unpublished ecological information for western Colorado has been
amasse3 as a result of our involvaaent i,-~ ;.arge-scale e~logical
,~ baseline studies in the area.
In addition, biologists tvr;cing for state and federal agencies a:.d
private i.-idvstry in the area were interviewed to deter:une the avail-
ability of site-specific ecological information.
the existing, site-specific wildlife information was reviewed for its
relevance in describing baseline wildlife conditions for the project
area. •Tiie pertinent wildlife data were 0tilized to. the iraiciram degree to
avoid duplication of effort in t'~e present baseline program and to supple-
Trent observatons and data gathered on-site during the course o£ field
studies. Data gathered over a ~+~riod of years are particularly important
in developing prefiictions of population dynamics and seasonal patterns
of distribution of important biota. Such data are eczmbined with infor-
mation gathered during the study to provide the most accurate possible
description of baseline wildlife conditions for the project site.
-`t-
JItM 1 3 )98a
•
(Revised July 2006) Attachment 2.04.11-1-11
