1 WATER RESOURCES
There will be little disturbance to the prevailing hydro-
, logic balance as a result of this onao'_ng operation. There is
no use of water during the mining stages nor during the reclama-
tion
hases
Refer to ma
Exhibits C
D-1
nd D-lA
p
.
p
,
a
.
No tributary water courses, wells, springs, stockwater
ponds, reservoirs or ditches are located on the affected lands.
Earlier excavations created a body of water (see map exhibits).
The Gunnison River runs through the property.
Water from dewatering is plopped to the Gunnison River and
1 is discharged under Colorado Department of Health NPDES Per-
mit No. CO-0029092 (see Exhibit N). This water is a good deal
better in quality than the river water and can only serve to
improve the river.
Runoff waters are not a pollution problem. The minor
amounts drain into the excavation area, not away from the
operation.
' The lakes, which it is estimated will reach their ulti-
mate size in 2011, will be approximately 56.7.7 acres i- ncrth
of the railroad and approximately 207.32 acres t south of
the railroad. It i.s expected that there will be some evapora-
tive loss of water from the lakes at that time. However, it
is not expected that the ongoi.*_g operations will cause measur-
able, material injury to senior water rights.
The operator has inquired into the effects its operations
I might have nn wet<_:cs diverted ty Redlands TYater and Power Com-
pany from the Gunnison Ricer. Redlands has indicated that it
expects no effects from such ocerations (see letter on following
page).
' 22
