After the grasses have been broadcast, 20-10-5 <br /> <br /> fertilizer will be applied at approximately 200 pounds per acre. <br /> Wherever possible, a light harrow drag will be used to increase <br /> the chances for success of the grass seeding. <br /> Mulch. A mulch of straw one to two inches in depth will be <br /> spread (i.e. 35 bales per acre). <br />' <br /> Shrubs or Brocvse. Fourwing saltbush (A. canescons) will <br /> be planted at the rate of 36 pounds per acre in selected areas. <br /> Squawbush will be planted selectively. <br />' Trees. Cottonwood seedlings are to be planted in a widely <br /> separated pattern (see map, Exhibit F). Russian olive seedlings <br />' <br /> will be planted in two patterns. On the islands and at several <br />' places along the banks groups of ten to fifteen olive trees will <br /> be planted about fifteen feet apart; in several places on th~~ <br /> perimeter olives will br. used for screening and windrows (see <br /> maps, Exhibits F- 1 and F-lA). There will be no tamarisk <br />1 <br /> plantings because the tamarisk in the area will grow and <br />' flourish without artificial en couragement. <br />Reclamation Timetable. Approximately twenty percent of <br />the area mined prior to July ]973 has been reclaimed. <br />' Although it is not a requirement of the statutes, the reclama- <br />' tion of areas mined prior to July 1973 will be completed in <br />accordance with the standards outlined above. <br />16 <br />
