This letter
contains the answers to your final adequacy review comments.
Exhibit D -Mining Plan
3. We anticipate accepting approximately 10,000 cubic yards per year of clean, inert fill
which will be used to backfill the slopes of the pit. The fill will arrive interminently
and the maximum volume of imported fill to be stockpiled at any one time is 4,000
cubic yards.
Exhibit E -Reclamation Plan
18. The Swale to be relocated functions as a wastewater irrigation ditch as the rancher
flood irrigates the hay fields and pasture. Some of the Swale has been dug and
redirected over time to facilitate the flow. The consumption of the imgated
meadowland by the mining operation will result in less wastewater flows in the
Swale.
Attached with this letter is a typical cross section of the relocated Swale. It has been sized as
the same area as the estimated average size of the present Swale. The relocated Swale will be
constructed of native compacted soil with a gravel bottom.
With less acres irrigated and only athree-month irrigation season, the Swale conveys water for
a short time. Therefore we propose to use the upland azea grass mixture as described in
Exhibit E of our application. The maximum slopes on the relocated swail will be 3 to 1.
LAFARGE WEST, INC.
1590 W. 12th Ave., Denver, Colorado 80204-3410
Office: (303) 657-4000 Fax: (303) 657-4339
hlntM on Re[ytlM Papet
