We have tried to follow the order of questions in each
response.
Colorado Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation
l.a. The Park headquarters is located from 1 to 2 miles from the
& b. operation. The new park headquarters will be located on
Route 83 north of Cherry Creek on ground that is 300 to 400
feet lower than the quarry. Since the operation is
depressed into the upland area, the stockpiles and material
processing plant will not be visible.
l.c Dust is regulated by the Colorado Department of Health and
will require a fugitive dust permit for on -site operations
as well as permits for all equipment.
l.d The mining plan does not allow pushing excess rock or
overburden over the hillside. The mining plan leaves a rim
of undisturbed land (100'wide) around the edge of the
property which will also help hide any equipment and
stockpiles.
2.a. The blasting plan calls for use of small explosive charges
to minimize noise. The present Hallett operation uses this
technique on their present quarry on the outskirts of Castle
Rock. There have been no known complaints about this
operation and many people in the area are surprised there is
even a quarry located in the general vicinity because of the
low noise impact. Several county sheriff departments use
the existing Hallett Quarry for training officers in
explosives handling and for detonating recovered bombs.
These blasts have been audible.
11990 Grant Street Suite 410 Denver, Colorado 80233 452 -6611
