r
Well BRLI-GRW-01
Page 3
August 13, 2001
Raptors
No active or inactive raptor nests were found within approximately I /2 mile of either the site or
access road. Habitat suitable for nesting raptors is lacking near the site. There are cottonwoods
along the east fork of Roatcal~ Creek within I/2 mile of the site, but no nests were observed. Both
sharp-shinned and Cooper s hawks were observed in the azea and could possibly be nesters, but
proposed operations would he far enough away from any suitable nest sites to preclude impacting
the birds.
Golden eagles and red-tailed hawks were observed soaring in the area. There are no cliffs within
I/2 mile of the site that would be suitable for nesting by either of these species. They could nest in
cottonwoods along East Roatcap Creek, but as previously noted no raptor nests were observed in
the trees.
With drilling operations proposed for later this yeaz there would be no impact on raptor nesting as
all young birds have fledged by now.
Please give me a call if you have any questions about the contents of this letter.
• Sincerely,
J' hn Mon
cc: Greg Hunt
