Progresso soils are on old terraces, benches,
mesas, and upland hills and ridges. Slopes range from 0 to 15 percent. The mean
annual precipitation is about 14 inches and the mean annual temperature is about 46
degrees F.
TAXONOMIC CLASS: Fine-loamy, mixed, superactive, mesic Ustic Calciargids
TYPICAL PEDON: Progresso loam -rangeland. (Colors are for dry soil unless otherwise
noted.)
A--O to 7 inches; reddish brown (5YR 5/4) loam, dark reddish brown (5YR 3/4) moist;
weak fine granular structure; slightly hard, very friable, slightly sticky and plastic; slightly
alkaline; clear smooth boundary.
