Out- File No. 80-11~ <br />Dear Mr, Bachmann: <br /> <br />i have reviewed the above application for adequacy and have the following comments <br />and suggestions which are intended to aid you in bringing your application into <br />Eu11 compliance with the law mid to the satisfaction of the Mined i.a>I~d leclamation <br />Board: <br />1, Pl^ase expound upon the history of the old existing pit. Will this area be <br />disturbed by the proposed operation, and if so, is this area included in the <br />overall acreage to be permitted under the application submitted? (Rule 1.1(2)) <br />2, As indicated in the SCS report, all topsoil down to and including the upper <br />noncalcareous subsoil should be salvaged from the affected areas (i..e., the <br />area to be miner], stockpile storage areas, etc.). \ <br />( <br />a. Please address how topsoil will be removed, stockpiled and stabilized <br />per Rule 6.4(a), and give the estimated volume of the ato;lsoil eo be <br />removed, based upon field measurements taken at the site (ulease submit <br />field measuremenC data). (Rule 3.ll(6)). <br />b. Please state the overall surface area (in acres) where tniiting and prior <br />removal of topsoil will occur, and delineate this area on the included <br />map (IixhibiC C) along with the location of Field measurement sampling <br />points which were utilized .in deCCrmininy; Copsoll vu.lume. (Itnle 3. L1(6)) <br />3. Please describe the stratum immediately underlying the sand and gravel deposit, <br />the total estimated depth of the sand and gravel deposit, and the anticipated <br />Final depth of the pit floor. Suclt information will give the Division a better <br />understanding as to the nature and extent of the root growth medium for Einal <br />reclamation. (P,ule 3.11(6)) <br />4. Please state the estimated time when mining operations will end and reclamation <br />activities will begin, per Rule 7.11(6). <br /> <br />
