SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
The blasting at the proposed MMRR Quarry is likely to cause
some damage to the wastewater treatment facility and is likely to
cause damage and disruption of the instrumentation.
2. The blasting at the proposed MMRR Quarry is likely to cause
damage to the lighting facilities including damage to the
foundation and the lights.
3. Further vibration studies should be conducted once site specific
data is available. The results of these studies should be provided
to the structural engineer as well as the instrumentation vendors
to deternine the affects.
PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF WORK
This report presents the results of a vibration study of the Black Hawk/Central City
Sanitation District Wastewater Treatment Plant and Silver Dollar Metropolitan District
Lighting Facilities, Black Hawk, Colorado. The study was conducted for the purposes of
estimating the velocities to be expected at the wastewater treatment facility and the lighting
facilities caused by the blasting at the proposed MMRR Quarry to be located immediately to
the north of the wastewater treatment facility across state highway 119. The study was
conducted in accordance with our proposal number POS-58 to Mr. Joe Bernosky, Leonard Rice
Engineers, Inc. dated October 28, 2005.
The work consisted of a site visit to the wastewater treatment facility to inventory the
structures and to determine the locations of the various structures in relation to the proposed
MMRR Quarry. The available information was reviewed and estimations of the expected
velocities were calculated.
This report has been prepared to summarize the data obtained during this study and to
1
present our conclusions and recommendations based on the proposed quarry operations, the
subsurface conditions and the nature of the facilities.
PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION
It is proposed to construct and operate a quarry operation to the north of the Black
Hawk/Central City Wastewater Treatment Facility across state highway 119.
