Both pond size and configuration, and their function as supplemental runoff storage basins in the
semi-arid environment of the North Park area, are consistent with and support the approved
postmining land uses of rangeland for livestock grazing and wildlife habitat. As previously noted,
their value in distributing livestock grazing use and reducing grazing pressure on natural drainage
bottom areas is significant and they also provide an important supplemental seasonal watering source
for area wildlife.
