1 <br /> A. INTRODUCTION <br /> 1 . Proposed Action: In the following report BEST-WAY PAVING COMPANY of <br /> tGreeley, Colorado, proposes to expand an existing gravel mining operation <br /> ' presently located on a 15-acre tract in the Northeast one-quarter, Section <br /> 2, Township 5 North, Range 66 West, 6th P.M. , at the Northwest corner of <br /> ' the City of Greeley, in Weld County, Colorado. A detailed legal descrip- <br /> tion of the overall 75.0-acre BEST-WAY site is included as Appendix 1 . <br /> 1 Drawings No. 1 and 2 show the site location. BEST-WAY PAVING COMPANY is <br /> ' currently conducting an open-pit gravel operation and has an asphalt <br /> plant on the northern portion of that property. That portion of the <br /> ' overall site is currently zoned A-Agricultural . The gravel and asphalt <br /> operations are considered a pre-existing use allowed by this zoning. <br /> 1 BEST-WAY PAVING COMPANY sought a change in zoning for the southern half <br /> ' of the overall property from E-Estate Residential to A-Agricultural , <br /> which was granted by the Weld County Board of Commissioners. The legal <br /> ' description of the property for which a change in zoning was granted is <br /> included as Appendix 2. In addition to the change in zoning for this <br /> 1 portion of the site, BEST-WAY PAVING COMPANY is seeking a Special Use <br /> ' Permit to allow the mining of gravel from that portion of the site. <br /> At present, the public hearing for the Special Use Permit is delayed <br /> pending a court action. <br /> 2.
