1
1

3. Period of Intended Exploration:
It is intended that all seven drill sites will be completed
between June, 1996 and October 1996. It is also intended that
all reclamation activities will also be completed by October
1996. The purpose of extending the NOI through 1997 is for the
purpose of accounting for unforeseen scheduling conflicts or
weather delays.
4(a). "Right to Enter"
Surface Ownership Agreements
' Surface ownership of all drill site locations are privately held.
Cottonwood Land Company of Steamboat Springs is owner of record
for Sites A, B, C, D, and E. Cottonwood Land Company is
currently in the process of acquiring right of entry from the
land owners of Sites F and G. Copies of these rights will be
forwarded when available. Cottonwood Land Company requests that
the Division entertain the option of stipulating that the
' landowner agreements for sites F and G be forwarded to the
Division prior to the drilling for those specific holes.
' S. General Area location and Description of Land to be Affected
The general location of the exploration area is seven to ten
miles southwest of the town of Hayden, Colorado. The general
topography is characterized by relatively gentle north and
northeast facing slopes. Topographic relief, in the area, is
approximately 1050 feet with elevations ranging from 7500 to 6450
' feet.
The area contains several minor northeast trending drainages.
Perennial streams in the area are Stokes Gulch, Dill Gulch, and
' Temple Gulch. Other streams support ephemeral flow. The area is
bounded on the northwest by Stokes Gulch, and on the southeast by
Watering Trough Gulch and Dry Creek. It is bounded on the south
by the Williams Fork Mountains. The proposed exploration
drilling will be conducted as to not impact any of the above
mentioned drainages.
The exploration area contains some areas of sandstone outcrop but
is primarily gentle hills and fields with small dissecting
drainages. The primary land uses are rangeland, pastureland, and
' cropland. A variety of vegetation types occur in the area. The
vast majority being composed of pastureland and cropland. The
cropland areas are primarily utilized for dryland wheat while the
' seeded pastures are wheatgrasses. Drilling will take place
primarily in cropland/hayland areas and within pastureland areas.
Vegetation types adjacent drill locations "A" and "B" are
composed of shrubs, the dominant being serviceberry and Gambel's
' oak mixed with pastureland grasses. Drill sites "C" through "G"
