SITE DESCRIPTION (cont) Exhibit B
PERMANENT MAN-MADE STRUCTURES
The only man-made structure within 200 feet of the affected
lands are the two sprinkler systems either side of the mined area
and a 3 strand barbed wire fence on the south property line.
These sprinklers and fence are owned by us. There are no above
or below ground communication or power lines, bridges, wells,
pipelines, water storage impoundments, railroad tracks, cemeter-
ies or communication antennas within 200 feet of the affected
lands.
WATER RESOURCES
There are no water structures within 200 feet of the site.
The two wells that supply water to our sprinklers are owned by us.
Mining will not reach the ground water table. Our investigations
indicated the ground water table is more than 150 feet below the
surface of the site, so no ground water will be exposed. Surface
or subsurface water will not be impacted by this mining opera-
tion. There may be a minor amount of irrigation runoff and
surface storm runoff from the adjoining fields entering the site
after mining ends. But because of the nature of the sandy site
we expect this to soak into the ground and not accumulated for
any length of time. In similar situations in this area we have
observed water collecting in low spots during heavy storms and
within in a week the puddle is dry.
MINING PLAN EXHIBIT C
6.3. 3 - This is an open pit mine located 9 .5 miles south of
Yuma Colorado, east of County Road C and south of County Road 29 .
We anticipate the life of this mine to be between 5 and 10 years
depending on the need for material in the area. The site -0 has
been used by the landowners as a dryland pasture over the years.
The area we plan to mine covers approximately 9 .99 acres in the
area not covered by the sprinklers. The relation of the site to
the irrigated fields and the area we plan to mine is shown on the
Mining Plan Map - Exhibit E-1 .
The material will be used to supply construction materials
for the area around Yuma. We may also remove material for use on
our own property and roads while selling some for off site uses .
7
