SITE DESCRIPTION (cont) Exhibit B
VEGETATION INFORMATION
The mining area is in what can best be defined as a corner
or rather two interior corners of a series of circular irrigation
sprinklers. These corners have been seeded with dryland grasses
to create a pasture and a hay grass field. The grass provides
cover for upland species of game birds found in our area and
protects the site from erosion.
1 . Current cover percent is: 60 to 80%
2 . Topsoil depth on site averages : 8 to 12 inches
3. Seeding dates recommended: October 15 (after first freeze)
to April 30 (before last frost) .
4 . Fertilizer, if needed: Phosphate @ 40 lb/ac and nitrogen @
40 lb/ac.
5 . Seeding recommendation for area:
Non-Irrigated grass seed recommendation
(source Sharp Bros. The seed will be drilled where possible
and doubled if broadcast. This mix will place 46.8 ±
seeds/sqft/pls on the seeded area. It exceeds the recommended 40
seeds/sgft/pls recommended in the SCD Planting Guide for dis-
turbed areas. The site is currently a level, very sandy range-
land site typical to the area south of Yuma, Colorado. It is a
dryland site with no special or unique characteristics . Tall
grasses make up approximately 55% of the vegetative cover and the
plant community is 75 to 90 percent grasses.
The species of vegetation found on the site are Orchard
Grass, Smooth Brome, Perennial Ryegrass, Crested wheatgrass,
Crested wheatgrass, Yellow Sweet Clover, Alfalfa, needleand-
thread, and switchgrass. These species makeup 90 to 95%, by
weight, of the species found on the site.
NOTE: 1/ Indicated rate if drilled. The mixtures will be doubled if
broadcast. Sold in 50i sacks.
5
