RECLAMATION COSTS

EXHIBIT L
The worst case reclamation costs occur when the mining is completed in Area 5 and final backfilling
is needed on the southern part of this area as well as topsoiling and seeding. Mining will commence
on the northern part and progress south to keep the amount of backfilling required at the end of
mining to a minimum. By mining south the operation will connect to the drained lake of Mining
Area 3. As mining progresses to the south in Area 5, all the land peninsulas will be built from the
overburden ahead of the active pit. Therefore, at the end of mining, backfilling and grading is
limited to the lower two sides of the Land peninsulas for a distance of 180 feet to the north. This is an
azea of 1.4 acres. The detailed tasks are given below:
1) Backfilling the southern part of the pad area (approx 1.4 acres) for Area 5. Since the final land
surface is 4468' and the pit bottom is approximately 4433', the azea will be filled 35' high. This is
79,000 cy. Material will come from a neazby pile in Area S left for this backfilling.
2) backfilling of slopes in the upper half of Area S lake to 3H:1 V based on 800 feet length and 578
. sq. ft x-section (from 2:1 to 3:1) = 17,000 cy. Material will come from a neazby pile in Area 5 left
for this backfilling.
3) topsoiling will be needed along all land azeas of Area 5 as well as the final facilities azea. This is a
total of 20.1 acres. As shown in the reclamation plan, placing 8" of soil on these azeas requires
21,618 cy. The soil wilt be obtained from the two stockpiles shown on Map C-2.
4) revegetation will be needed along all land areas of Area 5 as well as the final facilities area and
the two topsoil stockpile azeas once the topsoil is removed. This is 22.1 arms.
n
U
15 Road Pit 10/02 45
