Road <br />Delta, Colo. 81416 <br />Dear Mr. Brandstadt; <br /> <br />Soil 690 Industrial Blvd. <br />Conservation Delta, Colo. 81416 <br />Service <br />January 3, 1986 <br />The following information will assist on your rock pit permit. <br />Pit Name; Brandstadt Rock Pit <br />Location; Legal - Part of SW ;, NE'„ Sec. 15, T 15 5, <br />R 95 S, 6 th PM, in Delta County, Colorado. <br />Site; Approximately 4 miles East of Delta. <br />Size; Approximately 3.5 acres. <br />Present Use; Part of the site is an old gravel pit and the <br />remainder is rangeland. <br />Present Plants; See attached CO-ECS-2 form. <br />Soils; Mob, Mesa Gravelly Clay Loam and Rv, Salt Desert Brakes. <br />See attached map and description sheets. The site <br />is not prime farmland. <br />Gravel; It is estimated that 35 to 45 percent is greater than <br />1%z inches is size. Gravel depth is 10 to 15 feet. <br />Soil under gravel is shale. The water table is deeper <br />than 20 feet. The site is not in a flood plain. <br />Precipitation; 8 to 10 inches is the yearly average. <br />Pit Life; Up to ten years is estimated. <br />Interin Treatments <br />1. Top soil is available from over the gravel to be mined. 2..piles will be <br />made. 1 pile of top soil from the top 12 inches or so, and 1 pile of <br />sub soil, the next 12 inches or so. The top 12 inch soil will be for <br />top dressing the side slopes and any extra will be hauled onto the <br />adjacent field to cover rocky areas. The sub soil 12 inches will be <br />hauled onto the feed lot area, bottom of the excavated area. <br />2. Temporary erosion or sediment control measures should not be needed <br />at this site due to it's top of the hilltype of location, and planned <br />feed lot use. <br />3. No off site water would run onto the site. <br />4. The 3.5 acres are 3/4 mile from a graveled county road. The 3/4 mile <br />access road to the site is on a slope of 0 to 2 percent. No significant <br />erosion is expected from the road during hauling. <br />5. No erosion is expected from the stockpiles. They will be removed <br />within 2 to 3 months after being built up. Therefore special dikes <br />etc. will not be needed. <br />6. Toxic materials will be contained on site or handled in a non-polluting <br />manner. <br />7. On site runoff storm water will remain in the pit area and soak into <br />sub materials. <br />8.
