It is a practical clsaslfleation <br />based on limitations of the soils, the risk of damage when they are used, and <br />the vay they respond to treatment. The soils are classified according to <br />degree sad kind of permanent limitation, bui vithout consideration of mayor <br />sad generally expensive laadiorming that would change the slope, depth, or <br />other characteristics of the soils; and vithout consideration of possible but <br />unlikely ma,~or reclamation pro~ecta. <br />Aa~aa numerals are used to shoe the d broad Capability Claaaes and letters <br />follor the class numeral to indicate the principal problem or hazard. Claaaes <br />sad sub-classes used are as follows: <br />Class I - Tee or no limitations that restrict choice of crops or require <br />COIIaarraLlOA meYilrea. <br />Class II -Some Limitations that reduce the choice of crops or require <br />aoderata eonserntion measures. <br />Class III - Severe limitations that reduce choice of crops or require <br />special conservation practices or bath. <br />Clue IY - Vern severe limitations that restrict the choice of crops, require <br />very easeful management, ar both. <br />Class V - Not suited for eultlvatlan but has tee or no hazards rhea used for <br />pasture, range, woodland or rildlile. <br />Class VI - Not suited for cultivation. Severe limitations. Suited for range, <br />pasture, woodland or wildlife with careful management and needed conservation <br />practices. <br />Claw VII - Not suited for cultivation. Yery severs limitations. Suited for <br />range, woodland or wildlife uses if caretLlly aanaged. Usually cannot apply <br />pbyfical practices such sa pitting, lurroving, seeding, etc. <br />Class VIII - Not suited for eultiratioa, range, pasture or woodland.
