Also included are a few small areas of <br />Caruso and Paoli soils and small areas of Boils in which <br />sand and gravel layers are at a depth of about 40 <br />inches. <br />Runoff is slow, and the hazard of erosion ie alight <br />This soil is flooded or receives overflow in places. <br />If irrigated, this soil is well suited to corn, sugar <br />beets, beans, alfalfa, wheat, and barley. It is also well <br />suited to wheat or barley under dryland management. <br />Capability units I, irr•~eated, and IIIc-1, dryland; <br />Overflow range site; windbreak suitability group 1. <br />Teasel Series <br />The Teasel series consists of shallow, well drained <br />soils that formed in material weathered from sand- <br />stone. These soils are on uplands and are underlain by <br />soft sandstone at a depth of 10 to 20 inches. Elevation <br />ranges from 4,800 to 5,800 feet. Slopes are 8 to 26 per- <br />cent. The native vegetation is blue grams, little blue- <br />atem, green needlegrass, and yucca. Mean annual <br />precipitation ranges from 1S to 16 inches, mean an- <br />nual air temperature ranges from 48° to 60° F, and <br />ttte frost-free season ranges from 185 to 1b0 days. <br />In a representative profile the surface layer is light <br />brownish gray sandy loam about 3 inches thick. The <br />underlying material to pale brown sandy loam about <br />9 inches thick over soft sandstone. <br />Permeability is moderately rapid, and the available <br />water capacity is low.
