Shelton
Director
1 thought I should take' this opportunity to notify you that two of the permit
applications listed above are not yet adequate for Board presentation. The
application for the Lurldvall Pit (82-109) and the faiedman Pit (82-ZOS) should
have a statement inserted in the mining plan to provide that the affected
lands will be smooth-gz•aded prior to each period of temporary abandonment
(to minimize the contribution of additional sediments to the streamflow)
and that no mining operations will take place in the active stream channel
during streamflow events.
In addition, I will have to notify the Division of Water Resources with
regard to the construction of the dam proposed for the Wiedman Pit, we
recognize the landowner's desire to hold all available runoff, but the
possibility for conflicts with adjudicated water rights should be explored.
How tall will this dam be?
A1Z the other permit applications referenced above are complete and adequate
for presentation at the June 23-24, 1982 meeting of the Mined Land Reclamation
Board. Please contact me if you think we should discuss the details of
your proposal to reclaim additional lands in lieu of payment of the 51,000.00
civil penalty assessed by the Boa r. d.
5' rely,
~~~~
Peter N.
