Phillips Cocmty <br />HZ'YE: .Tune 8, 1977 <br />The following is a summary of the 11A application to be presented to the <br />board for consideration on dime 23, 1977. <br />Operator: Division of Highways <br />Name of OFaratioas Holyoke Gus Club Pit <br />Location: About 1.5 miles seat of the revs of Holyoke on Lha north aide <br />of the airport. <br />Affected area: 7 scree <br />Ty~+e of Miner Sand and gravel <br />Ex~atinA conditioaes Area of affected land has s sswdnrately dense cover of <br />axed dropseed and three-awn grass. The soil is mostly sand (77.62) <br />and is low in clay content (4.9Z). <br />Mininst and Ttaclamation: The top six inches of the soil will ba stockpiled <br />far use laser in topeoiliag to a comparable depth. Anp other ovar- <br />burdea will be used is Che project. The useable sand gravel would be <br />excavated to m average depth of ads feet. The project will probably <br />take abouC 100 days to complete. Baclaiming the area will involve <br />reducing ell elopes to not aieepas than 0:1. Any excess overburden that <br />vas not seeded would be spread is Che pit bottom. Thee the etoakpiled <br />overburden (soil) would De spread to a 6 inch depth aver the entire <br />area. The area would then be seeded with a cover crop of winter wheat <br />(fall planting) or M111ae (spring planting} and a mixtare of buffalo <br />grass, blae grams, keatucky bluagrssa, fairway crested vheatgrass, and <br />alfalfa. The area will ba fertilised with a mixture of fartiliaere <br />that will result in ea 18-45-0 mix at 500 pounds per acre. <br />
