EXHIBIT L
RECLAMATION COSTS
The worst possible case scenario would be that the permitted would be mining
dolomite from the quarry face, limestone from the quarry floor and removing the spoils
pile all at the same time when they defaulted and left reclamation [o the state. In 1998,
the cost of reclamation of each of these operations was calculated in DMG files as
follows:
M-96-070 Limestone $ 116,093
M-96-071 Dolomite 27,359
M-96-068 Stockpile 7,920
TOTAL: $ 151,372
In a telephone conversation with Tom Gillis of the Department of Minerals and
Geology, the applicant was informed that due to the increased fuel and equipment costs, a
ten percent increase in the bond amount was necessary to cover these items. To avoid a
complete re-evaluation of the bond at this time, keeping in mind the four year re-
evaluation policy of the Department, it is suggested that the reclamation bond at this time
be set at $ 166,509.
