•
G. STABILITY ANALYSIS. The quarried out area will be stable upon
completion of quarrying. A reclamation report from Charles Mallette, P.E.,
Consulting Geological Engineer is attached on the third following page.
After the spoils pile has been removed, the following procedure will be
followed to reclaim these premises:
The barren, sized, limestone product stockpile left by CF&I is an eyesore,
and parts of it could conceivably become unstable during unusual flooding
conditions (i.e. 100-year, 500-year floods). There is no soil or vegetation
on the stockpile, and there appears to be no soil under the stockpile as the
stockpile seems to have been placed on leveled-off rock outcroppings.
The reclamation plan is basically the removal of the stockpile and the
dressing-off of any remaining "high walls" to a 3:1 slope on highwalls
created by the stockpile removal. The final graded slopes will be
contoured into the topography as practicably as can be accomplished. The
final configuration, while not vegetated any more (or less) than now, will
be more pleasing to look at and arguably more stable. The final
configuration in the stockpile azea removed will be similar to prior CF&I
disturbance.
A. OVERBURDEN. There is no overburden on the stockpi]es.
B. FINAL SLOPE GRADIENTS. Final slopes will be 3:1.
C. REVEGETATION. Since there is no vegetation on the stockpile now, no
revegetation will be undertaken upon stockpile removal completion.
D. REMAINING PONDS PONDS. ROADS. STREAMS_ BUILDINGS. There
are no ponds, streams or buildings on the existing stockpile. Of course the
existing roads on top of [he stockpile will disappear with removal of the
stockpile. The main canyon drainage (South Arkansas River) located between
the stockpile and U.S. Highway 50 will not be disturbed and will remain as is
now. Where practicable, there will be a ditch and settling pond between the
spoils pile and the South Arkansas River for sediment control. The existing
building within 200' of the stockpile will remain after stockpile removal.
E. DUMPS. MINE OPENINGS AND DITCHES. None of these facilities are
part of the mining plan required to remove the stockpile.
F. RECLAMATION COST ESTIMATE. See Exhibit L.
5
