Ro ~ h ga Di ~h and C' ilyPrt
The southeast ditch and culvert are shown on the Loadout Area
Surface and Groundwater Hydrology Map, (Map 13), are designed to
collect and route runoff from the area south of the tracks to
Sediment Pond 1. The ditch and culvert are designed to safely
pass runoff from a 10-year, 24-hour event. The ditch is designed
as a triangular channel with 2H:lV side slopes. The culvert will
be placed under the existing railroad tracks. For design details
refer to the East Loadout Area Pond L1 and Structure Design Map,
(Map 26).
DPCign Calrnla ions
Hydrology
Hydrology Inputs
For all hydrology inputs refer to Table 23a, SEDCAD+ Version
3.0, Pond L1.
Hydrology Results
Peak Discharge
10-year, 24-hour event: 6.50
Ditch Design
The southeast Ditch for the East Loadout was designed using
Manning's Equation for Open Channel Flow and the results are
shown on the East Loadout Area Pond L1 and Structure Design
Map, (Map 26).
Culvert Design
The culvert was sized using the Bureau of Public Roads
Nomograph assuming a Hw/D = 1.5. According to the nomograph
one 18-inch culvert or two 12-inch culverts will be
required.

"`"'°""-'" i77 Revised June 1997
o:n a,s~ m:em. .•v
