2) Drill sites will be located on relatively flat areas. A total of approximately 50 CY of
material will be moved during drill site construction. The new access route has been
routed to avoid the need for earth moving.
3) A copy to the proposed seed mix is attached. This is the same seed mix currently
approved for drill sites under Mining Permit C-1981-018.
4) The depths of the proposed drill holes are as follows:
3101 19-7 = 515'
310120-15 = 630'
5) Prior drilling in the area indicated no presence of a groundwater aquifer. Any
groundwater encountered was very limited in extent indicating origination from an
aquiclude. We do not anticipate encountering an aquifer with the proposed drilling.
6) All drill holes will be grout-cemented through coal-bearing strata, with cement extending
50 feet above and below the mineable coal bed. The remainder of the hole will be
backfilled with cuttings and mud to ten (10) feet below the surface. The hole will then be
grout-cemented to the original ground surface. A 2 to 3 foot length of pipe will be
cemented into the top of each hole extending less than 4" above the surface and will serve
as the hole monument. Aluminum caps marked with the hole identification number will
be cemented into the top of the hole monument. 310119-7 may be developed into a
return shaft for mine ventilation at a later date. If this is the case, the hole will not be
plugged at this time and other appropriate development and backfilling methods will be
pursued through BME's mining permit.
7) Neither hole will be developed as a water well.
Item #6.
In the "Proposed Decision and Findings of Compliance for the Deserado Mine C-1981-018
Permit Renewal No. 04", October 20, 2004, Section A.15., page 25 the following is stated:
"The Colorado Division of Wildlife, in a letter dated March 10, 1994, advised the
Division that the continued operation of the Deserado Mine would pose "no
adverse impact to wildlife." Additionally, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, in a
letter dated February 22, 1994, advised Westem Fuels-Utah that Federally listed
species do not occur in the project area.
Both letters referenced should be on file with the DMG. "Western Fuels-Utah" was the name of
Blue Mountain Energy, Inc. prior to the same of the company to Deseret Generation and
Transmission.
