Appendix A Revised 12/21/82

Maintenance Program
Maintenance of sedimentation ponds and .diversion ditches will be
required during the intended life of the structures. Sediment shall be
removed from the ponds when it has accumulated to sixty percent (60%) of
the designed sediment storage volume. The sixty percent sediment level
is indicated~on the riser pipe of each pond in order to ensure that
sediment is removed before it accumulates past that level. Sediment in
pond H will be removed on a more regular basis to ensure that it will
not accumulate to the gated spillway which is required for the Bourg
Mine augmentation plan. In accordance with Rule 4.05.6(11) of the
CMLRB, pond embankments should be inspected a minimum of four (4) times
per year by the mine operator for structural weakness or erosion, and repairs
made when necessary. Rills and gullies deeper than nine inches (9")
which develop on an embankment should be filled and revegetated. Operating
• spillways may need to be periodically cleaned and repaired to ensure
that they operate as designed. Ditches should be maintained at the
designed gradients and revegetated when necessary. Vegetative growth
on embankments may need to be periodically cut to facilitate inspection
and repairs.
