Saricve - 2.05.3
A B Seam Portal - The B Seam portal was the main portal access for men, materials,
• supplies and coal transportation out of the mine. The portal was sealed in 1986 after
equipment was removed from the mine and the portal area was backfilled.
B. B-Seam Mme Ventilating Fan Station -Thu fan station was demolished in 1986.
G GSeam Mme Main Portals -The main portals were the primary access to the GSeam
Mme. These portals have been backfilled and the associated highwall and bench areas
have been partiallybackfilled with mine development waste.
D. GSeam Mme Ventilating Fan Station -Thu fan station was demolished in 1986.
E. GSeam Mme Intake Pottals -Two pottau into the GSeam, in addition to the main
portals, were used az fresh air intakes for mine ventilation. Both of these portals have
been rec]aimed.
F. B- and GSeam Mme Track -The track to the GSeam Mme branched from the B-Seam
track and was part of the track system for transportation of men, supplies and coal.
Approximately 450 feet of track was removed during construction of the Eazt Yard
refuse pile and associated topsoil stockpile. The ren+~~~i*+g track was removed during
construction of the Eazt Yard coal stockpile.
Bear Creek Area (Somerset Mine) -See the General Facilities Map, (Map 2.05-M1), and the
Facilities Detail Maps, (Map series 2.05-M3x). All mine-related facilities in the Bear Creek area have
been removed and the azsociated disturbance areas reclaimed.
• Lower Hubbard Creek Area (Somerset Mine) -See the Mme Area Geology Map, (Map 2.04-M3),
General Facilities Map, (Map 2.05-M1), and the Facilities Detail Maps, (Map series 2.OSM3x). All
mine-related facilities in the Lower Hubbard Creek area have been removed and the associated
disturbance areas reclaimed. Degazsification boreholes B-4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 were drilled into the
Somerset Mme workings and have now been abandoned.
Upper Hubbard Creek Facilities (Somerset Mine with potential future application for Elk
Creek Mine) -See the General Facilities Map, (Map 2.05-M1) and the Facilities Detail Maps (Map
series 2.05-M3x).
A Ventilation Shafts - Designed az two vertical or inclined shafu with a grouted sceel-
plate collar extending {rom the surface to the point at which competent rock is
encountered. Below this point, the shaft opening would be supported by wire mesh
and resin bolts with a 3-inch layt r of shotcrete to provide a smooch shaft lining.
Nominal inside finished shaft diameter will be 16 feet. The surface collar will be
concrete. These shafts have not been constructed, but could be required in
conjunction with futtne mining in the D Coal Seam
B. Escape Hoist -The planned escape hoot in one of the ventilation shafts has not
been constmcted.
G Fan Installations -Designed fan installations would consist of ventilation fans, steel
fan housings and ductwork, drive motors, and associated fan controu mounted on
concrete slab foundations. These facilities have not been constructed or installed.
D. Electrical Substation and Powerline - An electrical substation was installed on a
• concrete pad. This substation has been dismantled and removed except for the
concrete pad. It maybe replaced in the future if the fan site u developed. A power
distribution line running from the Elk Creek facilities area was installed to provide
power to the Upper Hubbard Creek site. Powerline design included suitable raptor
PR04 2.05-12 Revised May 2001
