Everist, Inc. (LGE7 to request a wetland determination <br />for the Lohmann and French properties in Weld County, Colorado. The properties, which wnsist of <br />approximately 82 acres, arc located in the NEr/. and NW'/. of Section 6, TZN, R67W, (latitude <br />40°10' 15", longitude 104°56'00'7 in Wcld County. A vicinity map is attached. <br />Doth properties consist of agricultural land that has been used for crop production and grazing. The <br />Last Chance Ditch runs along the southern edge of the proper[es. Both sites have been irrigated by <br />flood irrigation for the past many years. <br />~'he properties were observed in the field on February' 19, 2001 to determine if any jurisdictional <br />wetlands exist. The sift was free of snow and soils were not frozen on this day. It was found that <br />several species of wetland plants (foxtail barley, three-square, salt grass) occur sporadicaliy in <br />patches on the Lohmann property, particularly in low spots near irrigation laterals. However, <br />hydrophytic vegetation is not dominarrt on this site. Furthermore, the areas of hydrophytic <br />vegetation are isolated and not adjacent to, or alherwise hydraulically connected to, an "interstate <br />water." The only natural waterway in the vicinity of the property is the St Vrain River, which is <br />located approximately one-half mite north ofthe site (Figure 1). <br />'fhe French property was in a tilled condition and planted in sugar beets last year. No wetlands exist <br />on the property. <br />We reqursl your written concurrence that the Lohmann and French properties do not contain any <br />jurisdictional wetlands or other waters regulated under Section 404 of the Ciean Water Act.
